Your Embodied Wisdom

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."    Carl Rogers

We have experienced the most challenging of times.  It is understandable that you may feel anxious, overwhelmed or stuck. Feeling this way can be a lonely and scary experience which can impact, not only on our sense of self, but also on our relationships.

If this is how you feel, it may be helpful to give yourself some time to explore how you are feeling with someone who will listen with understanding and compassion. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space within which I can support you in a process of reflection and self-healing. I can help you regain control and feel more able to move forward with clarity and renewed confidence.

I'm glad you are here.  Let me tell you more about what I can offer.

Welcome to Yew Tree Counselling

My name is Debbie Radford

I am an Integrative Counsellor
a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP)
and a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS)

My Practice

I am an integrative counsellor which means I can draw on different approaches. My core approach is Person-Centred, so I will be led by you in the exploration of what fits best with your needs. This approach has, at its heart, a belief that every person has the capacity to resolve their problems and that this naturally happens within a consistent, warm and understanding relationship. I offer a therapeutic relationship where you can begin a journey of self-awareness and self-healing.

I can draw in ideas from Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamic theory and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  We can explore together what works for you. I have a particular interest in trauma informed approaches and in the wisdom that lies within our bodies.

It would be a privilege to listen to what is important to you, help you access your embodied wisdom, connect with your authentic self and accompany you on your healing journey.

Your Embodied Wisdom

Difficult life experiences effect us in a very physical way and the memory of such events are often stored in the body. You may wonder why you suddenly feel anxious without any rational reason; you may feel scared and out of control when this happens and then get stuck in cycles of worry and anxiety. I can help you explore these experiences and bring into full awareness the embodied and unconscious processes, so that you feel more confident and in control.
